Vice-Chancellor

BA(Hons), PhD (USyd), MAPS

Professor James Dalziel joined as Dean and CEO in June 2020. In 2025, Professor Dalziel’s role became the Vice-Chancellor of the University. Prior to his appointment, Professor Dalziel was Dean of Education at Morling College and a Professor of the University of Divinity. Previously, he has been Professor of Learning Technology at Macquarie University and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney. Professor Dalziel is an internationally recognised expert in the fields of Learning Design and educational technology. James is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society.  James is married to Dr Bronwen Dalziel, and they have three children.

Chief Operating Officer and Registrar

Simon has worked for the organisation since 2005 in multiple roles, and has led the student administration team since 2010. With a staffing restructure at the commencement of 2022, he took on the expanded role of Chief Operating Officer. In his current role, Simon has responsibility for non-academic aspects of the University, such as matters of strategy, communications, finance, human resources, quality assurance, IT management and student administration. He oversees the University’s Office teams of Registry (Academic Services), Quality and Finance.

As the University’s Registrar, he is also responsible for interpreting and developing policy and procedures governing academic matters, liaising with Affiliated College Registrars and Academic Deans as relevant, and overseeing the student management system as well as CRICOS and HESA compliance.

He is also heavily involved in governance, as a member of the Teaching and Learning Committee; and the Executive Officer for the Academic Board and the Council; and overseeing the administration of the University’s governance systems.

Simon has been involved in a number of government higher education administration projects and is a source of expert advice to the network of Registrars and other administrative staff in Affiliated Colleges. He continues to serve as an member of various Higher Education working groups for the Department of Education.

Director of Finance

Vicki joined the team in June 2010. She has a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University and is a CPA. Her main role is managing the University’s finances.  This includes the administration and management of FEE-HELP loan funds, development of and implementation of financial policies and procedures, and management reporting. She is the Executive Officer for the Finance, Risk, Audit and Compliance Committee.

Director of Academic Services (including Overseas Student Liaison Officer)

Asanka’s main tasks include carrying out tasks associated with overseeing academic administration, and supervising the Academic Services team members. The position is similar to that carried out by the Deputy Registrar at a University and includes interpreting and developing policy and procedures governing academic administration matters. Asanka is also the University’s Overseas Student Liaison Officer, the contact person for our overseas students, and ensuring compliance with the regulations around the delivery of courses to overseas students. He coordinates the network of affiliated college Registrars in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer and Registrar.

Director of Teaching and Learning

Rev Dr Ian O’Harae commenced the role of Director of Teaching and Learning in 2021. He previously served in a range of ministry settings, as the Principal of a Christian School, Educational and Theological Consultant, Pastor of a Baptist Church, Academic Dean and Lecturer in New Testament at Morling College. He also has wide international experience in providing leadership training, especially in developing world nations. Ian’s key responsibilities are to oversee teaching and learning, and to foster effective pedagogical practices and innovation across the consortium.

Edwina Murphy

Edwina Murphy

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research)

BEc, BMin, MTh, PhD

Dr Edwina Murphy joined the organisation in February 2022 as Deputy Dean and Director of Research. In 2025, Dr Murphy’s role became the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research). Prior to her work for the University, she was Director of Research and Senior Lecturer in Christian Thought and History at Morling College. Her research interests revolve around Cyprian, a third-century bishop, and how the early church interpreted scripture.

She oversees the Research, Teaching and Learning division of the University.

Edwina is actively engaged in the international scholarly community. She is co-chair of the Contextualizing North African Christianity section (Society of Biblical Literature) and is a member of the Council of the International Association of Patristic Studies, as well as the National Correspondent for Australia. She also serves on several editorial boards.
