Rationale

A coursework certificate at AQF Level 8 supporting professional skills and practice, the Graduate Certificate in Christian Leadership provides a distinctively Christian and theologically-informed course in Christian leadership which supports people serving in a variety of leadership roles and contexts. The primary discipline units provide students with a strong foundation in the fundamentals and principles of Christian leadership. The elective units enable students to learn and develop in areas relevant to their particular context and/or individual leadership requirements and intended trajectory. The course also prepares graduates for further learning and scholarship in Christian leadership.

  • Subject to the Credit Transfer Rules, graduates of an AQF level 7, 8 or 9 accredited course in leadership or business studies or a related field are eligible to receive block credit for up to 12 cps of Level 8 units in the course based on units completed in their previous degree.

Admission Requirements

Academic Qualifications:

  • Completed 3 year bachelor degree or equivalent; AND
  • A minimum of four years relevant work experience.

Language requirements: IELTS 7.0 overall with a minimum of 7.0 in reading and writing, and 6.5 in listening and speaking OR the applicant has been resident in Australia for ten (10) or more years, with English being the language primarily spoken either at home or at work (or both). Knowledge and Understanding
  1. Demonstrate current and advanced knowledge and understanding of Christian leadership in at least one of: the workplace, churches, faith-based organisations, Christian schools and other Christian ministry contexts.
  2. Critically examine biblical and theological frameworks for Christian leadership and apply them to contemporary leadership questions and practice.
Inquiry and Analysis
  1. Analyse, evaluate and synthesise advanced scholarship in inquiry-based learning within the specialisation of Christian leadership in at least one of: the workplace, churches, faith-based organisations, Christian schools and other Christian ministry contexts.
Problem Solving and Integration
  1. Integrate biblical, theological and leadership perspectives in developing evidence-based responses to complex leadership, organisational and vocational challenges.
Communication
  1. Develop communication strategies and present on Christian leadership in at least one of: the workplace, churches, faith-based organisations, Christian schools and other Christian ministry contexts.

  1. Apply advanced understanding of Christian leadership and teamwork within collaborative and organisational settings. Participate in academic critique of secular leadership theories.
