Content
Section A: Principles of Christian Leadership (40%)
- Biblical principles and patterns of leadership.
- Leadership qualities; gifts and abilities; the process of leadership development.
- Operating as a leader: appropriate styles for different situations and people; mentoring, delegating, motivating, communicating.
- Power, authority, responsibility and influence.
Section B: Managing Christian Institutions (40%)
- Establishing purpose, objectives, philosophy of ministry, goals, plans, administration, feedback and problem-solving.
- Principles of organisation: alternative structures, job-descriptions, decision-making, committees, accountability, time-management.
- Managing conflict and implementing change.
- Financial management; Christian principles in using money, understanding accounts, budgeting, accountability.
- Institutional life-cycles and aging; bureaucracy and devitalisation.
Section C: Field Work (20%)
- At least 8 hours under the guidance of a Christian in a significant management position, observing and reflecting upon the principles and processes of management in operation.
- Candidates undertake a personal evaluation, under supervision, of their own strengths and weaknesses in leadership; it may be in written or oral form.
