1. Outline the biblical paradigm for human sexuality and sexual behaviour
2. Relate an understanding of sexual biology and neurology to the biblical paradigm for sexuality
3. Describe current secular trends in adolescent sexuality and sexual behaviour and their implications for personal values and beliefs
4. Present Organised evidence-based perspectives on sexuality and identity
C. Be in a position to
1. Relating perspectives and skills from ‘Sexuality and Identity: An Introduction’ to contemporary Christian living and ministry contexts
Content
- Sexuality in the Bible
- Physiology of sexuality; with a focus on puberty, sexual orientation and sexual behaviours
- Gender development; and the influence of nurture
- Contemporary contexts for sexuality including trends in music, media and popular culture
- Aberrant influences; understanding the impact of inappropriate exposure to sexually explicit materials
- Personal ethics; developing individual and community responses to the Biblical picture in the light of contemporary influences
- Practical help; developing empathy and providing help to others
