Provision of academic and study skills support services, including English language support
Students are encouraged to view the Student Support Services page for information about academic and study skills support services available. In addition, the following are services available at Reformed Theological College:
- RTC provides an hour-long video seminar on Essay Writing to all students.
- Students who may need additional help on academic English, RTC recommends Theological English: An
Advanced ESL Text for Students of Theology as an aid to their studies. The textbook helps nonnative English speakers gain access to the rich theology of the Reformed tradition, with 30 lessons covering major themes of theology (apologetics, biblical studies, church history, systematic theology, and practical theology). For advanced courses on academic English, RTC recommends students use online platforms such as Open Learning or edX for free English courses.
Provision of counselling services
We have a strong commitment to student wellbeing. Students are encouraged to view the Student Support Services page for information about personal and counselling support services available, as well as links to relevant policies and processes in place to provide support to students. In addition, the following services are available to students studying at Reformed Theological College:
- RTC provides counselling to students who wish to seek advice on personal and academic issues, as well as vocational pathways. The counselling is ordinarily offered by RTC’s Faculty directly upon students’ requests and it can be offered in person or via internet or phone call, depending on the agreements made between the Faculty and students.
- For more complex counselling needs, students may be referred to external agencies upon considering the nature and significance of their cases.
